REMORSE

They have given me a private room

It's the only one of this floor

And though it's not luxurious

I couldn't ask for more

Though my stay is only for a short time

And there'll be no return visit

Every consideration is shown

Not soon will I forget it

If time were only a quantity

And life could be lived once more

Could all be different or fate demand

A replay of what went before

Every new day is filled with boredom

Sleepless nights with useless thought

It's the used to be's and might have beens

They're the things most sorely sought

I now walk down that long dimlit hall

It's now reached the appointed time

Even now I can feel no remorse

This punishment fits the crime
