LAST CALL

Waiting quietly on the tarmac

In a warm summer soaking rain

We patiently wait in a long line

Soon we'll be boarding on a plane

Far from our families and lifelong friends

Oh! How we've missed them these long months

Now we'll be home for every occasion

Birthdays, Christmas and Easter hunts

I thought this day might never come

Once besieged by this war torn land

Oh 'God' Thank you for this short reprieve

I know it's something you had planned

All the old memories are still intact

Every exprience that I've ever had

I can hardly wait 'til we depart

I'm coming home now, Mom and Dad

There's the last call, we'll be boarding now

I've done all here that I can do

Gently loaded, it's my last trip home

Draped smartly in red, white and blue
