GRANDPA'S HAT

Grandpa, I wore your hat today

It's weathered, tattered and torn

But I remember your smiling face

The last time it was worn

The many times we laughed and talked

The hours sailing in the bay

I wish these times we could have back

Seems like only yesterday

I just thought I'd stop by today

To make sure everything's alright

I can't stay long, I have to go

They lock the gates here at night

Grandpa, don't hurry too quickly

Stay fast the cemetery gate

Walk slowly and watch for me

You won't have long to wait
